Project Details:
At the Patel Residence in Vadodara, the ceiling was imagined not as a background element, but as a living architectural feature that shapes the mood of the space. Inspired by the elegance of origami, the design brings light and geometry together in a sculptural way that feels warm, expressive, and welcoming.
NEWMAT brought this vision to life through a series of large, inverted pyramid-shaped translucent panels, forming a striking 3D origami ceiling. Illuminated with Osram tunable LED systems and controlled through RF-based controllers, the ceiling allows the lighting mood to shift effortlessly from soft ambient warmth to brighter, expressive illumination, adapting to different moments of daily life.
Behind the seamless visual experience lay a complex technical challenge. The large inverted forms required careful structural planning to prevent any distortion under membrane tension. NEWMAT’s fabrication team developed custom powder-coated structures that ensured strength, durability, and perfect geometry, allowing the ceiling to hold its intended shape over time. A dedicated outdoor control panel using IP68-rated solutions was also integrated to ensure reliable operation while keeping the interiors clean and refined.
The result is a ceiling that breathes life into the living space with its sculptural form, gentle light, and thoughtful craftsmanship.
Turn your vision into reality with NEWMAT.
